Report of the Monthly Recollection

Preached by His Grace Pascal Topno, SJ

This recollection was the first recollection after the annual retreat… and perhaps one of the most important one as it was taken up by the Emeritus Archbishop himself. The previous evening, in his introductory talk, his grace led us to reflect on the life of a priest and the challenges faced by them in today’s context. He kept forward his reflection through well-reflected ten-point summary. He cited few Biblical quotations.

Next day was the usual one, it was a different day. After the Morning Prayer we had the mediation. In his second talk at nine o’clock, he led us to reflect upon one of the most sensitive and most important issues of one’s life: the need to discover oneself. Ask yourself, who you are. He also substantiated his thoughts through a short and interesting story. He also said that, even Jesus tried to discover who he was… and he succeeded in doing so. He asked his disciples who people thought who he was… what they themselves though who he was. He knew he was the ‘Beloved Son of the Father with whom He was well-pleased.” We need to discover who we are and do the will of God. He also illustrated his thoughts through the method of Bp. Fulton J. Sheen. Slowly we have to get rid of our ego and put Jesus in the center of our life. The recollection came to an end with fruitful confessions and the Holy Eucharist. His grace was thanked by Bro. Sahay Ajil.
